Golf Courses of the PGA Tour
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (October, 1994)
Average review score:

Beautiful book for the golfer & golf fanThis deluxe volume covers each of the courses on the PGA Tour and has several full color pictures of key holes on each course covered. Since some PGA tour events are replaced by new ones, the book may become slightly dated but, nonetheless, it is a great spectator's guide for those who watch the tour each week on TV or who occasionally attend tour events in person. The volume also includes a great map of each course covered. This is useful because it puts the course in perspective, For example, I have seen the famous 13th hole at Augusta National on TV many times but never appreciated how sharp a dogleg it is until seeing the map. Also, the map shows the direction each hole runs in relation to other holes. For example one hole may go out and the next hole come back in the opposite direction. The maps give you this perspective. Another great feature of the book is a short piece written by a golfer who has won the tournament played on that course. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

The Good Neighbor Guidebook for Colorado: Necessary Information and Good Advice for Living in and Enjoying Today's Colorado
Published in Paperback by Johnson Books (November, 2000)
Average review score:

Excellent Book! This is an excellent book for anyone planning to move to, or already living in, Colorado. Though not a book that most people would sit down and read cover-to-cover, it provides a broad overview of issues that are important as a reference guide. It is divided into concise chapters and written in language that is technical but understandable. From legal issues such as land stewardship and basics of Colorado law to a tongue-in-cheek interview with "Colorado Red", the book provides us with useful information so that we can all be better neighbors.

The Goose Who Went Off in a Huff
Published in Hardcover by Orchard Books (April, 2001)
Average review score:

Another hilarious adventure with Miss RosemaryThis new picture book by Paul Brett Johnson features the same characters as THE COW THAT WOULDN'T COME DOWN. This time, it's Magnolia, the goose, who is causing problems for Miss Rosemary. Miss Rosemary quickly figures out that Magnolia's strange behavior is due to a frustrated mothering instinct. Miss Rosemary then sets out in her own inimical fashion to solve the problem. Then ending is both sweet and hilarious. The illustrations (especially the facial expressions of the animals) add dimension to the story. This book is already on its way to becoming another old favorite at our house.

The Government of Money: Monetarism in Germany and the United States (Cornell Studies in Political Economy)
Published in Hardcover by Cornell Univ Pr (December, 1998)
Average review score:

A wonderful and timely readIn a time where the words of Alan Greenspan affect the lives (and wallets) of millions of Americans, this book brings the politics of the Fed to life for the everyday reader, and presents a comparison with the German central bank (the Bundesbank), where it seems that decisions are made in a much more collegial matter than the U.S. Federal Reserve, where one man can dictate the sway of markets. The book is accessible to academics and non-academics alike, and is about as sexy as a book about the politics of banks can get. Overall, it's a must-read for anyone interested in the politics of money, from scholars to daytraders.

Granddaddy's Gift
Published in Hardcover by Bridgewater Books (February, 1997)
Average review score:

A Special GiftThe United States has seen some turbulent times in its history, especially for African Americans. Granddaddy's Gift highlights one aspect of American history, the African American struggle for the right to vote. The stars of this touching story are Joe Morgan and his granddaughter whom he calls "Daughter" but everyone else in their community affectionately calls "Little Joe" because she is like his shadow. Joe Morgan is a man that has worked hard all his life and in spite of his 8th grade education, he owns his own land on which he farms and raises animals. He stresses the importance of education to his granddaughter through both his words and actions. When it comes time for someone in their Mississippi community to stand up and attempt to register to vote, Joe Morgan answers the call. As a result of his decision he, his family and ultimately the entire African American community are faced with adversity, but in the process he teaches his granddaughter some important lessons.
Granddaddy's Gift illustrates how the freedoms that many of us take for granted are indeed a gift from the generations before us. The illustrations perfectly complement this keenly written story and add a personal touch. The story instills a sense of pride in the legacy left behind by ordinary but brave people that helped to change the cultural climate of this country. I highly recommend this book, not only because it relates historical information but also because of the values the story represents.

The Great Everlasting
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (March, 2003)
Average review score:

where do we spend eternityThis is a magnificent book that spans three centuries. The historical facts are right on the money. The Indians are real in 1850 and in 2003. Morning Fawn is either the world's greatest trickster or she truly did live in 1867. Dan has to come to grips with the fact that he has fallen in love with a beautiful Crow woman who rode the plains before the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Together they fight their modern-day enemies as they are drawn inextricably toward the mysterious Death Camp of the Crow. The vivid imagery puts you on the back of a Crow war pony and in the plush leather seats of a sleek Lear Jet. This novel is in the same class as Ray's other books. You will love it.

Easy ReadingVery easy to use and understand. Clear printing and large pages. Everyone who has looked at my copy has been impressed. It would be nice to have the map expanded a bit more to cover additional suburbs.
